Mackenzie

YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Mackenzie is deeply passionate about yoga as a vehicle to touch greater meaning and joy in life. In 2022, she traveled to India to earn her 200 hour Hatha teacher's certification. A few months later, she returned to the same ashram to complete a 6-week course on the Bhagavad Gita, where she learned deeper concepts in karma yoga, dharma, and more. She's completed two 10-day silent meditation retreats, one based on the teachings of Ramana Maharshi and the other, S.N. Goenka.

Apart from her formal training, she's taught both Hatha and Yin yoga in India, Nepal, Spain, Turkey, and the US. Every experience has been a blessing and she's grateful to be able to share and learn with other students on the path!

Mackenzie instructs the following:
  • GENTLE YOGA (MILD HEAT)
  • This a mild heated (76-78 degree) class uses slow, easy movement, with an emphasis on connecting the body, mind and spirit. The focus of this class is to strengthen the body with breath and ease.
Beginning with a warm up, 1/2 sun saluations, standing poses, balancing poses. We then move to the floor to core and back work. Ending the classes with stretches and savasana.

This class is appropriate for students of all levels and ages, including beginners, seniors, and those with injuries.  Modifications will be offered throughout class. The use of props will be demonstrated and provided.

  • CANDLELIGHT HATHA YOGA
  • “To go out of your mind at least once a day is tremendously important, because by going out of your mind, you come to your senses.” - Alan Watts

This class blends traditional techniques of Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga. We will flow in sync with breath (Vinyasa) to awaken the body and dissolve tension, as well as hold poses for 3-5 breaths (Hatha), allowing students the opportunity to experience a broader range of sensation within their movement and stillness.

Core focus is on healthy alignment and breath/body awareness. Yoga philosophy will be woven throughout.

The pace of the Vinyasa portion is moderate, with modifications offered for students to adjust to their desired pace.
