✨ WINTER SOLSTICE YIN YOGA & MEDITATION (75 min)

This class is taught by:

Richard Garrison

YOGA INSTRUCTOR & MASSAGE THERAPIST

Richard began teaching after having been involved in a serious accident in 2007. He credits his current stage of recovery to the practice of yoga and time spent on a road bike. Working safely back to pre-accident levels of ability has helped him cultivate an
appreciation and deeper understanding of proper technique to avoid and work with injuries.

All students will be able to participate and contribute to classes in
meaningful ways. Rich has had extensive experience with various
modalities of yoga but sites his training in the Anusara style as
being the most beneficial to enhancing the experience of students.
Anusara is a non dogmatic hatha yoga system that emphasizes alignment and a "celebration of the heart". The lessons learned here and those from the Pranakriya style with Yoganad Michael Carrol are what he
draws upon most during classes. Participants should expect a mindful,
challenging and enjoyable atmosphere in which to practice. Though alignment is emphasized the classes flow beautifully in a way that
builds on those proper foundations.

Ivy Monaco

VINYASA YOGA CERTIFIED 200-RYT

Ivy began practicing yoga several years ago when an injury kept her from her normal exercise routine. With guidance from knowledgeable instructors she made an amazing recovery through her new-found therapeutic yoga practice. About 18 months later, she was severely injured again in another accident, this time she knew she had a powerful tool to heal her body, mind and spirit.

Now she’s passionate about serving and sharing the benefits of yoga, in hopes to inspire others. 200 hour RYT.

Erin McKeon

Certified Vinyasa Yoga

Erin is a longtime yogini, deeply changed after studying in Mysore, India in 2006. Ashtanga yoga has informed Erin's teaching approach, but she is inspired by each individual student. Erin’s teaching style is progressive vinyasa flow, with each sequence building upon the previous. Her classes are driven by creativity and strength building movements, and are also grounded in proper alignment and breath control/pranayama. She enjoys the mindfulness, physical awareness and playful grace one can find in yoga and strives to incorporate these elements in her classes.

Her approach to teaching is to offer what she practices, to speak from her own experiences and to challenge her students to expand their individual potential. Erin thrives on being a student, continuously learning and finding inspiration from her students and from a wide array of teachers and yoga styles. Erin brings a compassionate heart, steady assists and calming verbal cues to every class that she instructs.

Jillian Bussey

VINYASA YOGA CERTIFIED 200-RYT

Jillian found Hatha yoga in 2001 and immediately became enamored with the practice, feeling immediate, positive changes: physically, mentally and emotionally. Having studied the Humanities at Villanova University Jillian always craved to understand humans: our relation to each other, society, the world, a higher power, and of course how people consider themselves. Taking yoga practice is a similar discipline in that the focus is on connection: the physical movement and breathing is connected with the mental/emotional practice through the heart; we become more aware of ourselves and those around us. The way yoga changed her perspective led Jillian to want to share this with others. She enrolled in an Anusara-inspired yoga teacher training at Focus Fitness in Bryn Mawr, PA and became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) in 2013 and has hopes to continue on in a 500 hour training to practice Yoga Therapy this year. It is her hope that Jillian will inspire others to utilize the yoga practice to make positive strides in their own life and that they leave her classes feeling cared for and important, because every single person is important.

Mary Fetterman

POWER YOGA CERTIFIED

Mary came to her mat in 2002, searching for a new way to deal with the lifestyle shifts that came along with being a mom. “I admit that I began practicing yoga purely for physical reasons. I just had my second child and was anxious for a way to get back in shape.” She found what she was looking for and so much more. Yoga became a part of her life, and a way of living with benefits far beyond “getting in shape." Her passion for yoga was growing, and a little over a year later, she was leading the same class she began with.

Mary is certified at the 200-hour level and is inspired by many incredible local teachers, as well as Baron Baptiste, Beryl Bender Birch and Bryan Kest. She continues to develop her practice by experiencing the wealth of yoga in our community. She is also the founder of the local yoga and wellness website, Philly Area Yoga.

Laurie Nonnemacher

VINYASA YOGA CERTIFIED 200-RYT

Laurie Nonnemacher, RYT 200 is trained in Vinyasa Power Yoga and is thrilled to be able to share her passion for yoga with others. Laurie is a very high-spirited and enthusiastic teacher who balances this with a steady pace and calming voice to easily engage students in an enriching yoga class. Her classes are focused on movement that feels good, safe and challenging. She has completed various yoga trainings and workshops with Beryl Bender Birch & Baron Baptiste

Sue Singer

Sue fell in love with yoga over 16 years ago. In 2007, Sue decided that it was her “calling” to teach yoga. She graduated from Verge/Empowered Yoga Teacher training and became a certified yoga teacher in Spring, 2008. Sue is registered as an E-RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance. Sue is grateful to all of her teachers. Sue continues to study different styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Iyengar and Bikram. Sue brings her life experiences, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and passion for the practice to every class. “I believe that everyone on this earth can benefit from practicing yoga and it is my honor to be able to spread the word and share my passion. Yoga has changed my life.” Her teaching experience includes students of all ages ranging from children through senior citizens.
