Brenda

SPINNING, BARRE, ZUMBA, PILATES, COREALIGN, AERIAL YOGA,  POWERSTRIKE & BOXING, P90X CERTIFIED. ALSO TEACHES ZONE,  ZUMBA STEP, & ZUMBATOMIC
 
Brenda Elko is AFAA certified & has over 20 years experience in the fitness industry managing & instructing group fitness programs in Milwaukee, Connecticut, & locally from Great Valley & Paoli Health Clubs, The Edge in Frazer & Exton, Volant in Downingtown, & most recently Fairmount Athletic Club.

As a competitive swimmer in high school in Rio de Janeiro, Brenda has always loved athletics, but coincidentally began her passion for fitness classes at Suzanne Olson's studio in Washington, DC. Upon moving away from the DC area, she managed several group fitness programs in the Milwaukee area while obtaining a master's degree in Human Resources from Marquette University & a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University.

Brenda holds certifications in: Pilates Full Equipment & Mat, Zumba programs, Bokwa Dance Fitness, PowerStrike Kickboxing, Atletica, Barre Fitness, Yogafit, Crossfit, Spin Star 3, Aerial Yoga, Core Align, Aerial Yoga, Body Pump & has developed many other programs throughout the years.

Her previous career of 15 years was with the Central Intelligence Agency where she worked for Ben Affleck's character in the movie Argo. She was undercover traveling to many parts of the world during most of her Agency career until her last assignment in Human Resources where she managed the diversity program.

Brenda has been married for 31 years & enjoys traveling & the outdoors with her husband.

  • HIIT & SCULPT
  • Sculpt all major groups with a variety of techniques using resistance training using weights & HIIT training interspersed throughout the class.

  • ZUMBA
  • Ditch the workout, join the party. Zumba is a dance based program suitable for all levels. Latin based, Zumba includes music genres & rhythms from around the world, both past & present. Choreography is easy to follow, no matter what level you are. It’s exercise in disguise & a journey around the world without even leaving the room.

  • PURE BOOTCAMP
  • Bootcamp is a combination of strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns. You get EVERYTHING you need!
    We keep you moving and burning fat from the first minute to the very end!
    – The After Burn! We use a scientifically proven exercise formula known as E.P.O.C. to increase your metabolism up to 12-16 hours after your workout! That’s right, burn fat for HOURS after your workout!
    – NEVER Plateau! The body hates change! It would much rather do the same thing every minute of every day. Well we have news for you…when you do the same exercise routine day in and day out you stop seeing results or “plateau.” At Bootcamp we utilize the principle of muscle confusion. You will NEVER do the same workout twice! Why is this good? Because…your body will never adapt and you will never plateau! You will get results and they will come quick and continue to come…..month after month after month!

  • PILATES BARRE
  • A blend of Pilates for Core strengthening and Barre conditioning to lengthen and strengthen the entire body, especially thighs and buttocks.

  • PURE SPIN
  • You will be riding on the new Blade ION™ bikes! This class is designed to track real power—a rider's true effort.
     
    PLEASE ARRIVE 10 minutes prior to class time for proper bike set up. Heart rate straps are recommended to monitor cardio intensity.

    The SPINPower technology is unique because it tells riders how hard they are working, allows them to measure progress, and tells them what fitness variables they need to change.

    SPINPower program features:
    A Personal Spinning Threshold Test (PST) informs the creation of customized SPINPower training zones.
    Post-ride data analysis allows a rider to monitor and evaluate progress, and compare those results over time.
    The Spinner Blade ION provides an accurate measurement of how many calories a rider is burning.


  • An Introduction To Pilates Equipment a 4 Week Series
  • Anytime you are using equipment in Pilates, it is a tool to help you find the right muscles while using proper breathwork. Our equipment classes will Increase flexibility, strength and stamina, while improving body alignment, coordination, and balance. The result of this workout on a regular basis is a uniformly developed body with stronger core and back muscles.
     
    This 4 week series will help you get familiar with Pilates equipment training so you can attend any of the group sessions. Before you take any of our Group Equipment classes you will need to take the Introduction to Pilates Equipment Series or purchase 3 Private Sessions.

  • 4WK INTRO TO PILATES EQUIP SERIES - Register under WORKSHOP TAB

  • LIFT & SCULPT
  • Complete total Body Sculpting and Strengthing using weights of different sizes. Major muscle groups are targeted for full range of motion movement in a variety of sets with dumbbells, Step 360, BOSU & TRX, Body Bars and small elevated platforms. This class builds muscle so the body can lean out. 45 minutes, all levels welcome, athletic shoes recommended.

  • BURN
  • Our signature class -- interval treadmill or rowing plus strength trg. blocks with Kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX along with other functional and agility equipment to increase metabolism, muscle strength and definition, enhance energy levels, and burn max calories during and after the workout(after burn).
     
    This class is appropriate for all levels taught by our experienced, elite training coaches. Heart rate straps are recommended to monitor intensity throughout this all level class.

  • TABATA MAX CONDITIONING
  • 45 minutes of cardio and strength interval training using bodyweight, dumbbells, medicine balls and more. TBC is an ever-changing mix of functional movements like squats, lunges, planks and push ups designed to rev up your metabolism and build long, lean muscle. With an emphasis on movement in different planes, TMC also improves your agility and balance. Stay in the Game with Tabata!
