10 HOUR CHAIR YOGA TRAINING

Deanna McLaughlin

Deanna has extensive experience working with a wide breadth of people of all ages and levels of mental and physical abilities.
 
Combining her skills as an educator, yogi, and former art therapist, she has sought authentic yoga masters who are the most experienced to further her unquenchable desire to learn more about the healing opportunities we can all learn to tap into through the body and mind. Deanna has taught well over 6000 documented hours of stress management and yoga in private classes, workshops, seminars, lectures, and corporate strategic planning sessions. She has led demonstrations at private and public events, and for conventions locally and throughout the U.S.
 
She continues to broaden her studies of yoga, Chi Gong, meditation, and Tai Chi as often as possible with her favorite instructors: USA Master Paulie Zink, and with Grandmaster Mantak Chia of the Universal Healing Tao.
Whether you teach privately or to a group, in a health club or senior care facility or to simply enrich your own practice. This training is great for expanding your knowledge, skills and confidence in teaching to those with limited mobility.
 
You will learn what is going awry in the body in terms of alignment, posture and osteoarthritis, so that you can teach to each student in a creative, safe and effective manner.
This Workshop will take you deeper with lots of supporting material for teaching Yoga to Seniors and people with physical challenges. You'll explore the many dynamic aspects of a chair for people of all ages. Learn how to modify techniques for those suffering from issues such as knee and hip surgery recovery, back pain, sciatica, balance disorders, vertigo, osteoarthritis, stress, and anxiety.

DAY 1
Apply the aspects of a traditional class to address the following:
• Learn how to assess the origins of chronic pain; Cultivate observational skills
• Learn centering techniques that can be used anytime whether working at a desk or sitting in a crowded room
• Alignment/proper seated position Use different parts of the chair to achieve different results with the pelvis, hip flexion, core, and shoulders.

DAY 2
• Learn how to build lower back and core strength
• Various uses of the chair to strengthen balance. Asanas assisted with the chair: Hands - knees - feet - different actions = different results.
• Partnering to lengthen or to build leg strength.
• Supported back bending variations for all levels of mobility and flexibility.
• Sun salutation and variations: Seated -vs- using the chair as a prop.
• Nourish the adrenal glands and organs; Safe inversions to offset gravity and aging.
• Creative chair relaxation and meditation techniques.

Yoga Alliance CEUs with a certificate will be available for YA-registered yoga teachers for an additional $10.00 payable after the completion of the workshop.
