YOGA FOR ANXIETY with Ashley Lesko

Julie Strittmatter

Julie found yoga in college as a way to work out- but what she found was a “work in.” Since then she has been sharing the practice of yoga and meditation with people of all ages. Julie is an ERYT 200, Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher, and is completing a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. She believes yoga is for everybody and every body. In her classes you can expect to use equal parts strength and surrender to cultivate space in body and mind. Julie loves creating sequences and playlists that encourage people to find joy and presence in their bodies. Julie is working toward a Masters in Transformative Education where she hopes to bridge the gap between the meditation cushion and the classroom to encourage well-being and presence for teachers and students.
In this 2 hr workshop you will uncover daily practices, breath-work, yoga techniques and lifestyle changes to help you manage and deal with anxiety. Being FREE from anxiety is not the ultimate goal. The truth is, almost everyone suffers from anxiety to some degree, and we may never be completely free from it. However, we can learn how to deal with anxiety in a healthy way, how to direct and focus our energy, and how to live a lifestyle that keeps our anxiety at bay. We can also learn how to calm the mind and body when an anxious state arrises. This is the goal.

We will do a yoga practice that is down-regulating to the nervous system, meditation and breathing techniques, as well as participate in an open ended discussion on yoga philosophy and lifestyle techniques that help you manage stress. You will walk away feeling more confident in how to deal with anxiety in your life.

Bring a journal and pen, comfortable yoga clothes, and an open mind.
