Brenda

SPINNING, BARRE, ZUMBA, PILATES, COREALIGN, AERIAL YOGA,  POWERSTRIKE & BOXING, P90X CERTIFIED. ALSO TEACHES ZONE,  ZUMBA STEP, & ZUMBATOMIC
 
Brenda Elko is AFAA certified & has over 20 years experience in the fitness industry managing & instructing group fitness programs in Milwaukee, Connecticut, & locally from Great Valley & Paoli Health Clubs, The Edge in Frazer & Exton, Volant in Downingtown, & most recently Fairmount Athletic Club.

As a competitive swimmer in high school in Rio de Janeiro, Brenda has always loved athletics, but coincidentally began her passion for fitness classes at Suzanne Olson's studio in Washington, DC. Upon moving away from the DC area, she managed several group fitness programs in the Milwaukee area while obtaining a master's degree in Human Resources from Marquette University & a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University.

Brenda holds certifications in: Pilates Full Equipment & Mat, Zumba programs, Bokwa Dance Fitness, PowerStrike Kickboxing, Atletica, Barre Fitness, Yogafit, Crossfit, Spin Star 3, Aerial Yoga, Core Align, Aerial Yoga, Body Pump & has developed many other programs throughout the years.

Her previous career of 15 years was with the Central Intelligence Agency where she worked for Ben Affleck's character in the movie Argo. She was undercover traveling to many parts of the world during most of her Agency career until her last assignment in Human Resources where she managed the diversity program.

Brenda has been married for 31 years & enjoys traveling & the outdoors with her husband. 



Brenda instructs the following:
  • PURE SPIN
  • You will be riding on the new Blade ION™ bikes! This class is designed to track real power—a rider's true effort.
     
    PLEASE ARRIVE 10 minutes prior to class time for proper bike set up. Heart rate straps are recommended to monitor cardio intensity.

    The SPINPower technology is unique because it tells riders how hard they are working, allows them to measure progress, and tells them what fitness variables they need to change.

    SPINPower program features:
    A Personal Spinning Threshold Test (PST) informs the creation of customized SPINPower training zones.
    Post-ride data analysis allows a rider to monitor and evaluate progress, and compare those results over time.
    The Spinner Blade ION provides an accurate measurement of how many calories a rider is burning.


  • BUFF BARRE
  • A classical approach to Barre training emphasizing upper body training sculpting with light weights, with thigh, seat & core sculpting. Barre emphasizes barefoot training(no shoes), but toe sox are highly recommended for support and grip in Barre classes.
     
    Buff Barre is a full body workout designed to give you a defined core, toned legs and buttocks, sculpted arms incorporating a fresh approach to Barre training in every class. This yoga, pilates and ballet inspired class focuses on isolated exercises, alignment, flexibility and posture. Each section of strengthening exercises is followed by a deep stretch to create a long, lean look and increased range of motion. Motivating music and an elite, expert instructor staff will guide you through a total body workout that focuses on strengthening and lengthening every muscle group.

  • ZUMBA
  • Ditch the workout, join the party. Zumba is a dance based program suitable for all levels. Latin based, Zumba includes music genres & rhythms from around the world, both past & present. Choreography is easy to follow, no matter what level you are. It’s exercise in disguise & a journey around the world without even leaving the room.

  • SPIN/ROW/TRX
  • Experience multi cardio training with Spin and Rowing, plus strength and core training with TRX suspension exercises.

  • PILATES BARRE
  • A blend of Pilates for Core strengthening and Barre conditioning to lengthen and strengthen the entire body, especially thighs and buttocks.

  • PURE BOOTCAMP(outdoors for part of the class, weather permitting)
  • Bootcamp is a combination of strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns. You get EVERYTHING you need!
    We keep you moving and burning fat from the first minute to the very end!
    – The After Burn! We use a scientifically proven exercise formula known as E.P.O.C. to increase your metabolism up to 12-16 hours after your workout! That’s right, burn fat for HOURS after your workout!
